What Your Staff Keep Running Into

Your staff are good at their jobs. What stalls them is the behavior they can’t explain: the client who won’t decide, goes quiet at intake, or bristles at every instruction. Too often it gets logged as resistance or noncompliance.

Many of those patterns are adaptations to prolonged incarceration. When staff can recognize the pattern, they can ask a better question before they write the label.

The PICS-Informed Staff Training

A 2½-hour live virtual session for up to 10 staff. Your team learns to recognize incarceration-related adaptations, tell them apart from defiance or disengagement, and respond while keeping expectations and accountability in place. Every participant receives a manual, worksheets, and response guides they can use the next day.

Regular investment: $3,500
Founding pilot investment: $1,500 for up to 10 staff

Limited to the first 5 organizations. Pilot pricing ends November 23. Pilot organizations complete a short before-and-after staff survey and, if the training delivers, share a testimonial.

Larger teams or ongoing work? Mention it on the call.

Who This Is For

Reentry and transitional housing programs · Parole, probation, and corrections · Workforce development and case management

 What This Is Not

This training does not excuse behavior or replace clinical care. It teaches staff to tell adaptation from defiance, keep boundaries in place, and refer to licensed professionals when a situation goes beyond education.

Why I Built This Training

“I built this training because I lived the problem. In my own marriage after incarceration, I saw emotional shutdown, distance, and behaviors that neither of us had words for. I searched for answers and found very few, so I built what I couldn’t find.

Today I teach PICS-informed education to professionals and families, and to incarcerated learners through Edovo, a digital learning platform used in participating correctional facilities.”

How It Works

1. A 20-minute conversation. Free. We talk about your population, your goals, and where your staff get stuck.

2. A written confirmation. Date, price, and what your team will receive.

3. The session, then a follow-up. Live training, tools, and a short survey to measure what changed.
